Our merchants are creators, artists, entrepreneurs, ideas people, inspiring, independent… And all of the above in one. But our merchants are also individuals, full of personality who have their interests, idols and get their inspiration from lots of different places. Today we’re highlighting one of our newest and most colourful creators, Abraham Menéndez – the man behind the brand Abe the Ape. A few weeks ago we interviewed him in his studio, and we’re now revealing five things you probably did not know about this “madrileño” artist.
Your favourite movie or TV show?
Probably “The Groonies”, but I have so many favourites that it’s hard to pick just one. Plus, I like everything from “Pretty Woman” to “Ordet” or “Rocco and His Brothers”. Right now I’m completely hooked to “The Honourable Woman”.
A goal to achieve…?
The goal for my business is to go global and in the near future start attending trade fairs in different parts of the world.
What apps do you use on a daily basis?
Facebook and Instagram are the first apps I open in the morning, and Instagram is probably my favourite.
If you could be somebody, anybody else; who would you be?
Edward Burns (husband to Christy Turlington).
When you’re working, you listen to…
Crooners and Big Band (Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin…)
Vibrant colours and ’50s-inspired cinema personalities are at the core of this artist’s work. Abe the Ape is already selling on social media using Bloombees, with fans and followers buying his beautiful ceramics from around the world.
